The Road to Heaven

JESUS SAID, "'Behold, I stand at the door and knock; if anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and will dine with him, and he with Me."
(Revelation 3:20 NAS95)

AND, HE SAID, ""All that the Father gives Me will come to Me, and the one who comes to Me I will certainly not cast out."
(John 6:37 NAS95)

The first humans, Adam and Eve, defied their Creator's command against partaking of the forbidden fruit. This sinful act changed their position before God from eternal life to eternal death. However, God promised to redeem them from their helpless position of death if they would, by faith, trust Him to do for them what they could not do themselves.

Now then, since all humans come from Adam and Eve, all of us have inherited our first parent's deadness, and on our own, we are helpless to change that fact. Therefore, like Adam and Eve we must also exercise faith in God's promised Redeemer, Jesus Christ if our position is to be changed. Christ alone has the power to change us. Clearly, dead people do not come to life on their own, yet they can be brought back to life. After all, Jesus raised Lazarus from the grave; He also raised Himself from the grave. Consequently, when we, by faith, receive Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior, the Holy Spirit changes our position from deadness in Adam to life in Christ.

Once our position is changed, then our behavior begins a transition as we pursue the things of Christ. Yes, our bodies will slowly deteriorate, but our inner being is renewed as we live for Christ and seek to please Him with our behavior and attitude. This is what it means to be saved.

Forgive the expression, but Jesus Christ is the Blessed Grave-Robber,
1 Corinthians 15:55.

1. THE BIBLE ASSERTS THAT UNLESS YOUR POSITION BEFORE GOD CHANGES, YOU CANNOT GO TO HEAVEN:
"[F]or all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God."
(Romans 3:23 NAS95)

"Jesus answered and said to him, "Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God."
(John 3:3 NAS95)

2. THE BIBLE ALSO SAYS THAT, ON YOUR OWN, YOU ARE UNABLE TO CHANGE YOUR POSITION BEFORE GOD:
"He saved us, not on the basis of deeds which we have done in righteousness, but according to His mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewing by the Holy Spirit."
(Titus 3:5 NAS95)

"For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a result of works, so that no one may boast."
(Ephesians 2:8-9 NAS95)

3. SALVATION IS A POSITIONAL CHANGE AVAILABLE ONLY THROUGH GOD'S PROMISED ONE, JESUS CHRIST:
"It is a trustworthy statement, deserving full acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners..."
(1 Timothy 1:15a NAS95)

"For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life."
(John 3:16 NAS95)

4. YOU CAN BE SAVED FROM YOUR POSITION OF ETERNAL DEATH BY ASKING JESUS CHRIST TO SAVE YOU AND BELIEVING HIM:
"[T]hat if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved."
(Romans 10:9 NAS95)

"Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved..."
(Acts 16:31b NAS95)

"But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe in His name."
(John 1:12 NAS95)

"Truly, truly, I say to you, he who hears My word, and believes Him who sent Me, has eternal life, and does not come into judgment, but has passed out of death into life."
(John 5:24 NAS95)

If you would like to change your position from deadness in Adam to eternal life in Jesus Christ, then pray this simple prayer:

Dear Lord Jesus,
You know every thing about me. I know that I have made mistakes, please forgive me. Please come into my life and help me to always follow You.
Amen.
